Check out the interview with 2009 25+ Champion and 3rd place finisher in the Open A Class Jake Davenport.

SJO

So Jake you’re a SJO regular racer how many events did you make it to last year?

Jake

Yeah I decided to join the series and it ended up being a lot of fun, so I did roughly 20 races or better I can’t remember right off hand the exact amount.

SJO

Wow that’s quite a few. Did you have one track you liked the best?

Jake

Yeah my favorite track was actually Gaylord. It was quite a trip but the track was amazing. The soil was perfect and it had real wide lanes.

SJO

Well we’ll be up there again on August 25th!

Jake

I defiantly am looking forward to that race.

SJO

Coming off a 25+ championship and 3rd overall in the Open A class you have to be one of the favorites. Are you planning on defending your title again or will you just focus on the A classes?

Jake

I would defiantly like to defend the 25+ championship, I am riding a 250f this year so ill be riding the open A and 250 A classes. So it’s pretty much depending on the money situation. I’ll try my hardest to get at least 15 races in the 25+ to defend that championship, but no guarantees just yet.

SJO

We saw the switch for this year. Will you be riding both bikes, or just the 250F in both classes?

Jake

Just the 250f. That way I can mainly concentrate on just one bike. And the way money is it’s the only bike I have for now.

SJO

Well we look forward to seeing you out there. You’re always entertaining to watch on the track. Who would you like to thank for helping you out this year?

Jake

I would defiantly put a big shout out to Petrie farms and trucking. Mike Petrie puts in a lot of effort and money to give me the opportunity to make it to all the races. My good friend Eddie Bard with MX Donations, he has always been a great help, JQ entertainment for giving me the opportunity to be on his team and always taking great shots, my friends and most of all my mom and dad for being so supportive.

SJO

Sounds like you have a lot of great people helping you out for 2010. We look forward to seeing at Muskegon on May 1st!
